ESPN's divisional boxing rankings highlight the best in the sport in every weight class. They will change often, based on recent results and performances. Rankings are based on what a fighter has accomplished in the weight division in which he is ranked. Fighters who have announced they are moving to a different weight class will be ranked in that new division, if warranted, only once they fight in that weight class. Fighters who currently own titles in two divisions can be ranked in both.
Fighters who haven't competed in the past 12 months -- and don't have a fight scheduled -- will be dropped from the rankings until they fight again. Any fighter who tests positive for a performance-enhancing substance will also be removed. That boxer will be eligible to re-enter the rankings after his next bout.
Canelo Alvarez (61-2-2, 39 KOs) and Naoya Inoue (27-0, 24 KOs) retained their No. 1 spots at super middleweight and junior featherweight, respectively, after impressive victories. However, many other fighters moved positions after a weekend full of boxing on Saturday in Las Vegas and Monday in Tokyo.
Jaime Munguia (43-1, 34 KOS) fell one spot to No. 5 at 168 pounds, after losing a unanimous decision to Alvarez. Munguia performed well in the first couple of rounds but was overwhelmed down the stretch, losing by scorecards of 117-110, 116-111 and 115-112.
On the same card, Eimantas Stanionis returned from a two-year layoff to defeat Gabriel Maestre by unanimous decision. Stanionis (15-0, 9 KOs), the WBA "regular" welterweight titleholder, re-enters the rankings at No. 4 in the 147-pound division.
Also on the card, Jesus Ramos Jr. rebounded for the first loss of his career back in September against Erickson Lubin, to defeat Johan Gonzalez by ninth-round TKO. Ramos (21-1, 17 KOs) moves up one spot to No. 7 at junior middleweight.
But the most impressive performance on the card was Brandon Figueroa's ninth-round stoppage of former junior featherweight champion Jessie Magdaleno. Figueroa (25-1-1, 19 KOs), the WBC interim featherweight titleholder, landed a powerful left hook to the body that sent Magdaleno down for the count. Figueroa dominated Magdaleno throughout the fight and finished the job with a KO punch. He moves up to the No. 3 spot at 126 pounds.
In Osaka, Japan, Ryosuke Nishida scored a great unanimous-decision victory over Emmanuel Rodriguez to claim the IBF bantamweight world title. Nishida (9-0, 1 KO) moves up from No. 8 to the No. 3 in the division.
Tuesday in Tokyo (Monday morning in the U.S.), Inoue (27-0, 24 KOs) tasted the canvas for the first time in his career due to a left hook to the chin by Luis Nery in Round 1, but dominated the rest of the way, dropping Nery three times en route to a sixth-round KO win. While Inoue retains his top spot at junior featherweight, Nery (35-2, 27 KOs) drops two spots to No. 5.
Also on the card, No. 2 bantamweight Takuma Inoue defeated Sho Ishida by unanimous decision to retain his WBA bantamweight title. Takuma (20-1, 5 KOs), the younger brother of Naoya, keeps his No. 2 spot at 118 pounds.
And Yoshiki Takei's unanimous decision win over Jason Moloney to win the WBO bantamweight title made him the biggest mover of the weekend. Takei (9-0, 8 KOs), previously unranked, enters the 118-pound top 10 at No. 4.

Jorginho Urges Arsenal To Extend Arteta's Contract
BALTIMORE -- — Cole Irvin pitched into the sixth inning in another effective start, and a reshuffled bullpen held on for the Baltimore Orioles in a 4-2 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday night.
Struggling reliever Craig Kimbrel was taken out of the closer's role for this game, but he worked a perfect seventh inning. Jacob Webb retired two batters in the eighth, but then walked a batter. Cionel Pérez came on and hit pinch-hitter Joc Pederson with a pitch before Eugenio Suárez hit a routine grounder to end the threat.
Yennier Cano then pitched around a leadoff double in the ninth for his second save.
Arizona's four-game winning streak was halted. The AL East-leading Orioles have won six of seven.
Irvin (4-1) allowed two runs and five hits in 5 2/3 innings. That snapped a streak of three straight scoreless starts for him, but it was another solid outing for a left-hander who struggled last year after the Orioles acquired him from Oakland. He struck out six with one walk.
“This is probably the best I've felt in my career,” Irvin said. “Just trying to build off the confidence. We had a great game plan coming in. The execution of that plan on my end, could have done a little bit better, but all in all, this team did a lot of good things tonight.”
Brandon Pfaadt (1-3) allowed three runs, five hits and two walks in six innings. It was the longest outing by a pitcher this season with no strikeouts — nobody else has thrown more than five.
The Orioles opened the scoring with two runs in the second, shortly after new owner David Rubenstein took over the role of spraying fans in left field in the “Splash Zone” at Camden Yards. Jordan Westburg doubled home a run and Cedric Mullins added an RBI grounder.
Ketel Marte hit a solo homer in the third for Arizona, extending his hitting streak to 11 games.
Ryan O'Hearn's RBI single made it 3-1 in the fifth, but the Diamondbacks answered when Suárez hit a run-scoring single in the sixth.
The Orioles went back ahead by two when Gunnar Henderson doubled in a run in the seventh.
Kimbrel had allowed six earned runs in 2 1/3 innings in his previous five outings. In that span, he blew two saves and twice was removed while still trying to complete a save. He allowed a sharp lineout Friday, then retired the next two hitters on a strikeout and a flyout.
“I just wanted to give him a little bit of a different look, and I thought he threw the ball really, really well,” manager Brandon Hyde said. “Pitching in a 3-2 game in the seventh is still a lot of pressure — high-leverage situation. I just want to get him going, honestly.”

The Orioles send LHP John Means (1-0) to the mound Saturday against Arizona's Ryne Nelson (2-2). Means went seven scoreless innings against Cincinnati last week in his season debut, returning from a forearm injury.
