So in this interview, Clay Epstein, VP of Sales & Acquisitions at The Little Film Company, gives filmmakers some incredible insight on how to get your film to market, from the sales agent’s perspective.
Clay discusses everything from what buyers are looking for and which genres are (and aren’t) selling to how to look for a sales agent and at when to submit your films and everything in between, including trailer tips, film screenings at markets, trade advertising and more.

Enjoyed the interview! Heard the message loud and clear about genres, and I do want a career in filmmaking as Clay suggests. Did I miss the genres that he suggests Distributors DO want?? I remember him mentioning that AFM is good for horror and Toronto and Berlin are good for Art House Films, but I don’t recall him saying what kind of films distributors prefer over Drama. I was doing a Google search today on “CCD Expo” and a link brought me directly to this page…
1) There’s no way to search your blog… so I can’t put in specific search terms to find what I’m looking for… ???
2) There are no dates on your blog posts, so I can’t even try to find a specific post by date… ???
3) There’s no way to contact you directly on your blog… ???
My Google search for CCD Expo, referenced your blog as follows: “Jul 22, 2010 – The CCD Expo is just getting started with this the firs…”
I am guessing this is a reference to the CCD Expo being held in Loomis, CA 16th and 17th of September. However, there is no way for me to easily verify this because of the reasons listed above… can you please verify and send me the direct link to the blog posting if applicable?
